Founded in 1947, the United States Student Association (USSA) is the country's oldest and largest national student-led organization representing millions of students across the country. USSA develops current and future leaders and amplifies the student voice at the local, state, and national levels by mobilizing grassroots power to win concrete victories on student issues. The work of USSA is complemented by its sister organization, the tax-exempt USSA Foundation (USSAF), which provides leadership development, education, and training to engage student activists in the political process. Both organizations believe that education is a right and should be accessible for any student regardless of their socio-economic background and identity. Therefore, USSA/USSAF is dedicated to training, organizing, and developing a base of diverse student leaders who are utilizing strategic skills to expand access to higher education and advance the broader movement for social justice.
